Song of Solomon 8:7
The scripture for today is Song of Solomon 8:7
Song of Solomon 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the wealth of his house for love, it would utterly be rejected.
Love is more valuable than all of the things we may own, combined! Pure love cannot be bought at any price and it cannot be destroyed by any force. The desire for love, that is in the heart of every person, reflects the signature of the Creator. We were made to give and receive love. Yes, the creation has been disfigured by sin, nevertheless, the design of God has not been erased. The greatest desire in the human soul is for love.
Our need is met wonderfully in Christ who is the embodiment of the love of God. God looked beyond the disfigurement of sin and loved us anyway. He sent His Son, in pure love, to give us something that we were unable to produce on our own. He gave us love in its purest form, unselfish, sacrificing, and others-centered. Jesus brought us love that is beyond affection and emotions. He brought us love that is God.
“No waters can quench Christ's love to us, nor any floods drown it. Let nothing abate our love to him. Nor will life, and all its comforts, entice a believer from loving Christ. Love of Christ, will enable us to repel and triumph over temptations from the smiles of the world, as well as from its frowns.” Matthew Henry
