The scripture for today is Psalms 89:1

Psalms 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever: with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations.

Our rejoicing in the Lord is not contingent upon external circumstances. His mercies are constant and circumstances do not determine their existence. God does not change, and when we embrace Him in faith, He is with us in the valleys as well as on the hilltops. In fact, the valley experiences, those times when our faith is tested the most, is when we should praise God the most. We do not have to see anything to trust in God; we have His promises. "We walk by faith and not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7 Faith takes what is not visible and transforms it into visible praise thereby bringing into present reality that which seems not to exist. We rejoice in the goodness of God because we have faith in it; not because we see something, but because He has declared it. Our songs of praise in the darkness of the night will illuminate our experiences as surely as a candle illuminates a dark room.

We realize that we have many reasons to rejoice in the Lord, and those reasons are real, not hypothetical constructs. So, when others give up, we continue to move forward. When others curse, we bless. When others succumb to fear, we sing songs of praise. Why? Because we know our God. We know that His plans for us are for good and not for evil, and His will for our lives is the very best. Whatever God allows to come into our lives is there for our eternal benefit and that which God allows we accept with praise. In everything we give thanks to Him who holds our eternal destiny in His hands.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
