Psalms 37_23-24
November 13
Happy Tuesday Everyone,
The scripture for today is Psalms 37:23-24
Psalms 37:23-24 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.
It seems that the prerequisite for having the Lord's delight, care and protection is being a good man or person. So naturally, one wants to know how to become a "good" person. Can I make myself good and then God will like me? We discover that the word "good" does not appear in the original language. In your Bibles you will see that this word is in italics, which means that it was added by the translators. It does not mean that what they inserted is bad; it just means that they were trying to make the verse more understandable to the readers.
In Young's Literal Translation the verse reads: "From Jehovah are the steps of a man, they have been prepared, And his way he desireth." Now the verse comes alive with meaning. God has designed the steps that every person should take and the person who delights in His way, walking down God's prepared path, is a "good man." Even if they fall, the Lord will uphold them with His hand. Why? It is because they delight in God's way. "He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8
God bless you as you continue in His service.
