The scripture for today is Psalms 27:1

Psalms 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

The psalmist provides us with the proper perspective in dealing with fear. Rather than focus on ourselves and our circumstances, we have a heavenly Father who knows all things and who can accomplish whatever He pleases. We are His children; our focus is on Him and our faith is in Him; we never have a reason to fear.

If we enjoy fellowship with God who loves us, where does fear come from? Faith in God and fear cannot exist in the same heart. God does not share "heart space" with the evil one. God is love and “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18

One who has fellowship with God fears nothing, or, as the psalmist says, “of whom shall I be afraid?” When God is the focus of our lives, our entire perspective changes; we live to please Him. A life that is overcome by fear is a life that is out of order and a life that is out of order is a life that is out of the will of God. It is a life that is self-directed rather than God directed.

In Christ, God has given the best of heaven to free us from the bondage of the torment of fear. He offers us deliverance from everything that the enemy has brought into mankind’s existence. Fear no longer dominate our lives; we have been set free by the grace of God through the loving sacrifice of Christ. That is where we have chosen to stand. Our strength is not in ourselves; our strength is in the Lord.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
