Proverbs 4_11-12
September 11
Happy Tuesday Everyone,
The scripture for today is Proverbs 4:11-12
Proverbs 4:11-12 I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you go, your steps shall not be hindered; and when you run, you shall not stumble.
The words of this chapter begin with "Hear, you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, forsake not my law." Proverbs 4:1-2 The importance of instruction cannot be overstated. For instruction to be effective, however, it must be heard. Not just listened to, but heard. In hearing instruction, the children embrace what is heard and follow it. This is the process of gaining understanding. Obedience leads to understanding, not the other way around. It is when we walk in obedience to God that the understanding of His word is imparted to us. Obedience is an act of our will; understanding is what we gain through the experience of following in obedience. Those who do not obey God have no understanding of what God is like and the walk of obedience will seem foolish to them. The steps of obedience, however, lead to increased spiritual strength and knowledge of God's love and grace. Living out His will for our lives comes from hearing what He says and following in the paths where He leads. In a word, obey Him and He will make your way successful. God's promise to us is expressed in our text for today; "your steps shall not be hindered; and when you run, you shall not stumble."
Since creation God has instructed us in the way that we should go. When mankind rebelled and walked away from Him, He continued to instruct us in how to find our way back to Him. Finally He sent His Son to make the way perfectly clear. Jesus took on our likeness and as our representative paid the price for our rebellion and sin through His death on the cross. He now leads us in the right path and has given us His steps to follow. No excuse need be offered, for the price has been paid and the way illuminated. Jesus has paid the price and He is the way. Follow Him.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
