Mark 4:22-23
The scripture for today is Mark 4:22-23
Mark 4:22-23 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was anything kept secret, but that it should come into the open. If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.
This passage is often used to indicate that all things will be exposed on the day of judgment. Yes, all things will be revealed at the judgment, but this passage is not referring to that. In the preceding verse we see the context of what Jesus was saying to His disciples. "And He said unto them, Is a lamp brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a lampstand?" Mark 4:21Jesus came to shine the light of truth into the darkness of tradition and deception. That light will expose the secret works of the heart. The Word of God is the light that makes manifest the hidden things of the heart. Jesus Christ is present throughout scripture and He is powerfully revealed in the New Covenant. There He shines like a bright light, exposing the darkness of sin and providing a way of escape for all who would come to His light.
Jesus instructed His disciples "Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak in light: and what you hear in the ear, that preach upon the housetops." Matthew 10:26-27 The light of the Word of God that was imparted by Christ to His disciples was to be communicated to the world. That same gospel must still be communicated to the world. It is not to be kept secret; it should not be hidden. It should be openly and powerfully preached. "For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Acts 4:20 Just as Jesus depended on the disciples in the original church to shine the light of the gospel then, He is depending on us to shine light of the gospel in these last days. Let us be faithful, just as they were. Maranatha!
God bless you as you continue in His service.
