The scripture for today is Mark 3:14

Mark 3:14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.

Jesus chose twelve men to stand as co-laborers with Him in preaching the gospel. These twelve were to be the pillars of the church and, like the twelve patriarchs in the Old Testament, the church grew through their lives and ministry.

It is important to note that the focus of the ministry of the twelve was the same as the ministry of Christ; “…that He might send them out to preach. And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out demons.” Mark 3:14-15 Jesus assigned to them the same ministry that He was carrying out, “preaching, for the cure of the soul; and healing, for the cure of the body. Jesus Himself devoted more time to ministering to the physical needs of humanity than to preaching, and the Twelve doubtless followed His example.” The SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 5, p. 594

As we, the church, stand at the end of time, it is more important than ever that the anointing that Christ gave to those first apostles be bestowed upon us. The church has multiplied and where there were but a few, there are now millions around the world who have chosen to stand for Christ and who have been called by Him to proclaim His message. More than ever, the ministry of healing and preaching of the gospel must work together to reach the lost and hurting. Can we as a people stand in these last days and work for the kingdom of God? Can God use us just as He used the early church? If we are the remnant we, by definition, must be like the original. Yes, God can and will use all who are committed to Him; those who are willing to give up life itself to stand in the truth of His word. The first apostles did their job; now we must do ours.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
