October 21

Happy Sunday Everyone,

The scripture for today is Luke 6:38

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure it shall be measured to you again.

One of the greatest indicators of the presence of God in a life is the willingness to give without ulterior motives. While there are many who will offer gifts out of their great wealth to causes which they embrace, it is the heart of God that offers the dearest and best to those who are in need, yet completely undeserving. "Let us give, neither out of mere human generosity, nor out of vanity, nor from interest, but for the sake of God, if we would have him place it to account. There is no such thing as true unmixed generosity but in God only." Adam Clarke

The Godly person lives a lifestyle of giving because it is the life of God Himself being expressed through them. Just as a thriving lake is nourished as it's contents flow outward, so the child of God is replenished as there is a flow outward to those in need. Love is expressed through giving, not just in money or material things but in whatever is needed. Love provides whatever the need requires therefore love is the fulfillment of need. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 God knew what was needed and that is exactly what He gave. As we express the love of God to those around us, we also will give to meet their needs as we are enabled by God to do so. It is really God Himself working through us to continue the expression of Himself to others. He promises that those who are yielded to His Spirit and follow His example of unselfish, unconditional love through giving will have the same measure given back to them again. That is His promise to us and He never fails to keep His promises.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
