John 14:20
The scripture for today is John 14:20
John 14:20 At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
What good news Jesus imparts to His followers! Jesus was preparing to pay the ultimate price for the salvation of mankind; His death on the cross. Yet, He told them that the day was coming when they would know that He was in the Father and they would be in Him and He would be in them. How could that be? The day that Jesus was referring to was the day when the Holy Spirit would be poured out upon them, filling them with the very presence of the Father and the Son. Spiritual power from heaven was promised. This is not a promise just for the few disciples who were listening to the words Jesus was speaking. It is a promise to every follower of Christ. Through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, Christ lives in the heart of everyone who is truly His. And because we have died with Him, our old life of sin no longer controls us; we have surrendered to the control of Christ; He now lives in our hearts. The reality of His presence is evidenced by the new life that we live. We live through Him and He expresses Himself through us. The dominion that was lost through Adam's transgression has been restored back to us through the last Adam, Jesus Christ.
Like the disciples of old, we know that Christ is in the Father and we are in Him and He is in us. We know it by the presence of His Holy Spirit who lives in our hearts and directs our lives. If we are to truly follow Christ we must to be filled with the Holy Spirit. According to God's Word, to receive this gift, we simply have to ask and obey Him. Jesus said "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?" Luke 11:13 "And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him." Acts 5:32 Love is the catalyst for all things heavenly. We can be all that God wants us to be because of His love for us and our love for Him. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God's love powerfully manifested through the lives His people.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
