Jeremiah 31:35 Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the fixed order of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who divides the sea when its waves roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
There is nothing that should command our attention as much as a clear “Thus says the Lord.” When God speaks it is not a suggestion; it is a promise or it is a command. There is power and authority in God’s words. He keeps His promises and we should follow His commands. God does nothing but that which is for our good. His promises and commands are not for Him, they are for us. His commands are like traffic lights and stop signs along the road. Those things are not there to interrupt our driving, they are there to ensure our safety and well being. When we hear “Thus says the LORD” our hearts should give attention with eager anticipation for God is giving us His word. His word gives light and life to those who hear and obey it. “Nothing is so stable as God's promises. The ordinances of heaven He established, and He can remove them. But his word nothing can remove. It stands fast for ever and ever.” Family Bible Notes
His power is revealed in His creation; His love for us is revealed in our redemption. May our ears be opened to hear what “Thus says the LORD.”
