Happy Sunday Everyone,
The scripture for today is James 1:17
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
The two words translated gift in today's scripture (good gift, perfect gift), are actually two different words in the Greek language from which the verse is translated. Good gift is actually "the act of giving" while perfect gift is "the thing given." Young's Literal Translation renders the verse this way: "Every good giving, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no variation, or shadow of turning." The International Standard Version translates the verse this way: "Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow."
All goodness and perfection come from God. Apart from Him nothing is good or perfect. As His children, we seek to be instruments of "generous acts of giving" and bearers and presenters of "the perfect gift." Jesus Christ is the perfect gift that came down from above and through His act of giving His life for our sin, we can now receive His perfect life as our own and present Him as the perfect gift to others. There is no greater act of giving or greater gift that can be given.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
