The scripture for today is Genesis 3:4

Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, you shall not surely die.

This is the first lie recorded in the Bible and it is about death. It is the master lie and Satan has built most of his spiritual deceptions on this lie. You see if man does not die, they are immortal and would continue to live even after death. The immortality of the soul was suggested by Satan and has been embraced by those who accept his suggestions instead of the clear Word of God. God's pronouncements cannot be ignored and the voice of Satan, regardless of how appealing it may sound, must not be given any attention. Eve's first mistake was to engage in a dialogue with the devil. Once she entered into that discussion, she had opened herself up to his suggestions and upon entertaining his suggestions she was on her way to rejecting the Word of God. We must not make the same mistake that Eve made; we must never engage in a dialogue with the devil.

When Jesus was confronted with the same kind of temptation that Satan used against man in the garden, He responded with a clear "it is written."  Christ succeeded where Adam and Eve failed because He chose to stand on the Word of God instead of engaging in the devil's thought process. To enter into a dialogue with the devil, engaging in his thought process is a recipe for defeat. We must always follow the example of Christ, standing firmly upon the Word of God and having as our ready response in all situations: "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4

God bless you as you continue in His service.
