Genesis 1:24
The scripture for today is Genesis 1:24
Genesis 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kinds, cattle, and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kinds: and it was so.
Eight times in Genesis chapter one, we find the phrase “God said.” And when God said something, His word did something, bringing into being exactly what God had spoken. We find that after "God said," "God saw;" a phrase that we find seven times in the chapter.
On this, the sixth day of creation, God created all of the creatures that breathe. Since creation is a reflection of God Himself, that reflection must be living as God is a living God. All of the creatures of the earth were created in one powerful day by an Almighty God doing what to the world is impossible.
God who is infinite in wisdom, knowledge, understanding, power, and presence can do in a nanosecond what created beings are incapable of doing in generations of lifetimes. And mankind, with finite minds, is incapable of explaining the workings of an infinite God. So they develop alternative and evolving theories of how what God did came into being. The reality is, “and God said.” When God spoke, His Word, who is one with Him, performed the work and it was so. It was an awesome display of the creativity and power of the Godhead.
This same Almighty God is our Heavenly Father and His Word is His Son through whom we were created, have been redeemed, recreated, and brought into the family of God. Through Him, we also have the promise of everlasting life. And one day soon we will see Him create new heavens and a new earth, just for us.
