The scripture for today is Ecclesiastes 3:1

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

The word season in our text for today means "appointed time." There is an appointed time for everything that is done. The major question is how do we understand when the appointed time is for the things we engage in; for the seasons of our lives. That there is an appointed time is a given; to know the appointed time comes from our relationship with God. The issue for most of us is not the fact that there is an appointed time for everything but how to know and embrace the will and timing of God in all things.

The value of our existence is in the fact that we are here at the appointed time, at God's direction, for the purpose of fulfilling His desire in the great controversy between good and evil.  Nothing that we do should be done "out of season." God is aware of time and purpose; He is, in fact, in charge of it. He is not derailed by anything that man does. He is God; He is in control. Nothing happens that He is not aware of and without Him allowing it to happen. Yet He still responds to our faith, and it is faith working through love that God desires to see in us. When we have come to the place of surrender to His will, we realize that we are not here by accident or chance. We are here, at this point in earth's history, by God's design. He placed us here for a purpose and as we let His life control ours, that purpose will be realized. We do not curse summer or winter, we embrace both because God allows them for a purpose. In like manner we do not fret about the conditions that surround us for we know that the purposes of God will be completed in time and will consummate with the victory of righteousness and salvation for the redeemed. "Because to every purpose there is time and judgment." Ecclesiastes 8:6
