Deuteronomy 10:12
The scripture for today is Deuteronomy 10:12
Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
God’s requirements for His people are stated clearly in our text today “fear (have reverence) the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God will all your heart and with all your soul.” These requirements have not changed and will never change.
All of God’s instructions to us are rooted in His love and His desire for our good. God is the only source of life and security. It is out of His desire for us to be under His love and protection that He offers us a covenant relationship with Him.
God’s covenant with us is based on His love for us. We enter into covenant with Him through accepting His love and returning the same love back to Him. He loved us so much that He was willing to give the best of heaven, His only begotten Son, to secure our salvation. He does not require from us anything that He is not willing to do Himself. He simply asks us to love Him in the same way that He loves us. He will never forsake us; He asks us to never forsake Him. He became one of us and stood on our side. He asks us to stand on His side and become one with Him. God is not selfish; He is giving. God is not fearful; He is loving. God is not proud; He humbled Himself to relate to lowly man and has raised us up to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). God forgives; He asks us to be forgiving. God lives in eternity and His instructions to us are designed to give us life that is lived in His presence; a life that, like His, is eternal.
God bless you as you continue in His service.
