The scripture for today is 2 Chronicles 7:3

2 Chronicles 7:3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshiped, and praised the LORD, saying, For He is good; for His mercy endures forever.

After Solomon prayed a prayer of dedication for the newly constructed temple, the fire of God came down and consumed the sacrifices and the glory of the LORD descended upon the temple and filled it. What an awesome and glorious spectacle for the people to behold! The only fitting response was worship. They bowed down and put their faces to the ground, a sign of surrender and worship, acknowledging the presence of Almighty God.

The temple was beautiful and richly presented but it was not the beauty of the temple that caused the people to bow down with their faces to the ground. It was the powerful presence of God that moved them to worship and acknowledge His goodness and mercy.

It is the presence of God that moves us to worship today. Yes, we may not have the same experiences as the Israelites, but we have the same powerful Spirit of God filling our hearts. His presence alone moves us to fall upon our knees before the Father declaring, “He is good; for His mercy endures forever.”

The Israelites came to dedicate the temple; today we are the temple and the Holy Spirit that filled the early temple will fill us today. It is not a different Spirit but the same Spirit of God who inhabits His temple, His people, today. May we recognize and honor His presence and may we daily fall on our knees before Him and declare His goodness and mercy.

God bless you as you continue in His service.
