Happy Friday Everyone,
The scripture for today is 1 Thessalonians 5:18
1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
God's will for us is that we prayerfully offer ourselves to Him with thanksgiving, irrespective of circumstances. We are only temporarily connected to circumstances, but we are permanently alive in God. It is because of our permanent union with God that the circumstances of life produce no fear in us, but rather become a cause for thanksgiving.
Everything that happens to us is a cause for thanksgiving because every event reminds us, even in times of trouble, that we are permanently connected to God who will never leave us or forsake us. Our prayer is never "Why me?" but rather "Thank you Father that you are with me." Thanksgiving cures many ailments. It causes our minds to focus on the Provider rather than the problems. It increases our awareness of how fortunate we are in spite of the trials we may encounter. When we realize that of all people on the face of the earth we are the most blessed, we cannot help but offer thanks to God.
The more thankful we are, the more time we want to spend in prayer and the more time we spend in prayer, the more thankful we become. It is not something we do out of obligation; we do it because we love Him and we desire to spend personal time with Him. It is the priority of our lives now and it will be the priority of our lives throughout eternity. Because we love our God, our hearts desire is to give Him thanks. It is because our God loves us that we can come into His very presence and offer it.
