The scripture for today is 1 Samuel 2:10

1 Samuel 2:10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall He thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth, and He shall give strength unto His king, and exalt the horn of His anointed.

For years Hannah suffered the abuse of her rival because she was childless. But her sincere prayer to God was answered and He gave her a son, Samuel. She dedicated Samuel to the Lord and after he was weaned, she returned him to Eli the priest to serve before the Lord all of his days.

Our text today is from Hanna’s prayer as she dedicates Samuel to God’s service. She begins her prayer in verse one: “And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoices in the LORD, my horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth boasts over my enemies; because I rejoice in your salvation.” 1 Samuel 2:1 Hannah experienced the victory that comes through faith in God’s promises. Because she trusted in God, God gave her the desire of her heart. She then returns the blessing of God back to Him in thanksgiving.

“Whatever we give to God, it is what we have first asked and received from him. All our gifts to Him were first His gifts to us…Hannah's heart rejoiced, not in Samuel, but in the Lord. She looks beyond the gift and praises the Giver. She rejoiced in the salvation of the Lord, and in expectation of His coming, who is the whole salvation of His people… And here is the first time that we meet with the name Messiah, or His Anointed.” Matthew Henry

Hannah’s experience with God underscores His faithfulness. His promises to His people are sure. No one who puts their trust in Him will be disappointed. As we cling to God in faith, we will surely experience His victory. Through His King, His Anointed, whom Hannah referenced, God brings great deliverance to His people. One day soon, His victory will be celebrated by those who have put their trust in Him as they gather in worship and rejoicing on the sea of glass. “And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.” Revelation 15:2

May we also be among God’s holy ones who will be standing before the throne of God, rejoicing in His victory!

God bless you as you continue in His service.
