The scripture for today is 1 John 4:6

1 John 4:6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

In the great controversy, the great battle between Christ and Satan for the souls of mankind, there is no neutral ground. We will be either for or against Christ. Here is where the problem enters: Many proclaim that they are for Christ when in fact the blinders of deception have covered their eyes and ears. Deception is Satan’s primary weapon. This problem has existed in the church since it began. There have always been those who proclaimed themselves to be followers of God when in fact they do not know God at all.

“The Holy Spirit is the source of the believers’ impulse to seek truth. It is by comparison with the truths they have already been taught by that Spirit that believers can recognize the right. The sheep recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd in the words of those whom the Shepherd has sent to them (John 10:27).” The SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 7, p 663

It is possible to err through ignorance, but the spirit of error is deliberately seeking to make people wander from the path of truth. It is our responsibility to proclaim the message of Christ and to also live the message that we preach. God’s sheep will hear His voice in His message and will follow Him. Those who reject it are not condemned or judged by the messengers; it is the truth of God’s word that will judge all in the judgment. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27  “Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." John 10:5

God bless you as you continue in His service.
