The scripture for today is 1 Corinthians 13:8
1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
There is no condition or circumstance that we might confront that love cannot overcome. It is the single most powerful force that exists. Nothing can overcome it. The patriarchs of old could withstand the trials, tribulations and persecutions inflicted upon them because of the power of love. Love is the force behind all of creation and Godly revelations. Nothing worthwhile exists apart from it. The pursuit of God is the pursuit of love and without love there is no apprehension of God. "He that loves not knows not God; for God is love." 1 John 4:8 Without love there is no expression of faith for "faith works by love." Gal. 5:6
Love is the reflection of the character of God. It is His very heart; it is what He is. One cannot have God's character and not be filled with His love. His commandments, which are a written transcript of His character, reflect the outworking of His love. Jesus therefore says, "If you love me, keep my commandments." John 14:15 And "If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love." John 15:10 Jesus is not asking us to keep different commandments, He is asking us to keep the same commandments that He kept. And we are instructed to "follow in His steps." 1 Pet. 2:21 Why does He want us to follow in His steps? Because His way is the only path of love that exists. It is the only path that never fails.
